Gemini Syndrome

Interview with Aaron!

When did you decide that a career in music was for you?

  • I started playing music at a very young age, being inspired by my mother who is a classically trained singer, and piano soon after. I think by the time I was in junior high I knew I wanted to be in a group and write and perform. So since I can kind of remember really.

Who are your musical inspirations and why?

  • I am inspired by a vast range of artists and styles. Everything from Paul Oakenfold to Opeth. Imogen heap to Twista and tech nine. I probably have some sort or influence from almost any genre you could mention.

Can you tell me 3 things about yourself that people might not already know?

  • in todays day and age? Probably not. But here goes. I am legally blind or what is considered low vision. I am adopted at birth. I’m a sick putt putt golfer.

What song of yours best describes you and why?

  • meh. All of them. They’re all an expression of me.

What has been the best gig you have done to date and why?

  • impossible to answer.

If you could perform a gig at any venue where would it be and why?

  • as I am answering this from a bus ride in Luxor Egypt, I think the coolest venue ever would be the Giza plateau.

What has been your best achievement to date and what would you like to achieve in the future?

  • I haven’t died yet. I would like to become immortal.

Tell me a story from backstage or after a gig?

  • ugh I suck at these questions. Pass to Brian

What do you like best about being a musician and why?

  • playing and creating. Music is magick. You can literally manipulate frequency and inspire emotional responses on others.

If you were not in the job you are now what would you be doing?

  • something else. Who knows. Could be anything. But I went to college for psychology with the intent of being a clinical psychologist. Lately I’ve been considering leaving entertainment to be a full time alchemist.

What has been the best gig you have been too as a fan and can you tell us about it?

  • impossible to answer. How can you pick one of anything?

What would your ideal festival line up be and why?

  • I have no idea.

What would you say is the best piece of advice you have ever been given?

  • last man standing wins. Never give up is the best advice anyone can get for anything.

What things make you happy and what things annoy you?

  • people. And. People.

What things do you like to do when you are away from music?

  • record music. Kung fu. Reading. Quality time with people and dogs.

Do you think social media and the internet are a good thing in the music industry?

  • doesn’t matter what I think. They exist. So either evolve or don’t.

How important do you think your look and image is when it comes to being in the music industry?

  • Probably pretty important. Brush your teeth. Be authentic. Everything else sucks.

Can you tell us about any tattoos you have and the significance of them to you?

  • I have a bunch of tattoos from tarot cards to different religious symbols. But the ones I’ll mention here are on the inside of my wrists and they simply say “breathe” and “relax”. It’s the first lesson you need to internalize in any endeavor and I forget sometimes.

If you run the country for a day what would you change about it and why?

What would your ideal day consist of?

  • my life is pretty ideal. I wouldn’t change much. Wake up. Train. Spend quality time. Create. Learn. Relax. Be of service to others.

If you could say one thing to your fans what would it be and why?

  • I would express gratitude. No one has to spend their time listening to music I make. Or try and understand the lyrics I write. But they do. So thank you.

How would you answer the question Who are Gemini Syndrome and what are the differences between you as a music artist and you away from music ?

  • I don’t know that there is a ton of persona with GS. What you see is kinda what you get. Some weird dudes with some weird interests and some weird lives being weird and reminding others to embrace their unique weird too. You’re welcome.

What was the first record or song you purchased and why?

  • the first records I stole from my sister were stone temple pilots “Core” and Dr Dre’s “the Chronic”. And why? Because they were my sisters and they were awesome

What would say to someone thinking about becoming a musician and getting into the music industry?

  • don’t.

If you could collaborate with any other band/singer or musician who would you choose and why?

  • Maynard James Keenan. He’s been one of my favorite artists most of my life. I think we have similar worldviews and styles and life experiences and I think we would make something beautiful.

If you could have written one song from history which would it have been and why?

  • bohemian rhapsody. Because it’s the best modern song ever made.

What things make you uncomfortable?

  • rudeness. Ego. Inconsiderate behavior. Entitlement. Arrogance. Selfishness.

If you wrote a book about yourself what would it have in it?

  • you’ll see.

What has the rest of the year got in store for you?

  • I’m doing some solo touring later in the year. Traveling to Belgium to do some shows with my band Woyote in June. GS will be releasing the rest of the record and possibly touring later in the year. And for the moment, I’m gonna keep visiting these pyramids.
